Tınaztepe Cave System

Tınaztepe Cave System; at the locality of Kecili Village is situated at 35 km. southwest of Seydisehir. The cave is at 5 km. west of Mortas Aluminum bed. The Seydisehir-Manavgat highway passes close to the cave.
This cave system has developed inside the Cretase limestone and is formed by three storeys one on another. The 100 m. long storey at the top is completely fossilized. The middle level has a total length of 1015 m. and is semi active. Water flows inside this storey in the seasons with precipitation and it ends with a siphon. The lower storey is a branch developed over a big fault line and is an active cave carrying the characteristic of doline cave. In seasons with precipitation, the surface waters on a wide area flow into here. These waters come out of the springs near Sugla Lake flowing through the Susuz Guvercinlik Cave situated at southeast. The length of the section of this active branch which is examined until now is 527 m. But the total length of this cave hasn’t been determined yet. The deep but narrow lakes and siphons inside of it make the researches hard.
The cave with a total length of 1650 m. and a depth of -65 m. consists of two sections being fossilized and active. If the fossilized section is entered in spring seasons it is necessary to cross the 5 lakes by a boat. The same gallery can be passed through by walking as the result of the decreasing waters in autumn months. After 5th lake the Big Saloon can be reached via a descent of 30 m. there is a lake at the end of the saloon. Tinaztepe Doline exists right under the Tinaztepe Cave. During whole year waters flow into the doline which has a length of 1550 m and a depth of -150 m. The cave near the waterfall is entered via a descent of about 20 m. After the descents of 10 m. the doline ends with a siphon at -150 m.
